ROME Acid Base

 pHPCO2HCO3Common Causes
Respiratory AlkalosisHyperventilation (e.g. in response to hypoxia, metabolic acidosis, increased metabolic demands, pain, or anxiety).
Respiratory AcidosisImpaired respiration or airflow obstruction which can be caused by a multitude of disorders.
Metabolic AlkalosisVolume depletion (e.g. vomiting) and diuretic use.
Metabolic AcidosisHigh anion gap: ketoacidosis, lactic acidosis, renal failure, toxic ingestions. Normal anion gap: GI or renal HCO3 loss.
